Julia Bacha is co-director (with Ronit Avni, writer and editor of the award-winning feature documentary Encounter Point. The film was the official selection at Tribeca Film Festival, Hot Docs, Jerusalem Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival and San Francisco International Film Festivals, where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary.

Julia was also the co-writer and editor of the critically acclaimed documentary, Control Room, about Al Jazeera, for which she was nominated to the Writers Guild of America Awards 2005. Control Room was the Official Selection at the Sundance Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival in 2004, and the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival the same year. Julia has participated in numerous panels such as the New York Time's "War Documentaries” and the United Nation's panel on Al Jazeera English international news channel.

Julia was awarded the 2003 Phi Beta Kappa prize upon graduating from Columbia University, where she studied Middle Eastern history and politics.
