Juan Bastos (born 1958, Caracas Venezuela) is a noted Bolivian-American portrait artist who resides in Los Angeles, California (http://www.eldeber.com.bo/2008/2008-11-02/vernotaescenas.php?id=081101221813). His society and celebrity portraits in oils and pastels are prominent examples of the revival of high end portraiture in a formal style reminiscent of John Singer Sargent.
