Jozef Adamec (born February 26, 1942, Vrbové) is former Slovak football player and later football manager, one of the most famous Slovak football players of post war era. Temperament football player, great striker, later equally great passer.

He played mostly for Spartak Trnava (1959-61, 1963-64, 1966-77). During his military service, he was member of Dukla Prague (1961-63), 1,5 year he spent with Slovan Bratislava (1964-65) and at the end of career played for low-division Austrian club Slovan Wien (1977-80).

In Czechoslovak league he played 396 matches and with 170 goals is 3. in Czechoslovakian All-Time Topscorers Table He was capped 44 times for Czechoslovakia, scored 14 goals. He was a participant at the 1962 FIFA World Cup and 1970 FIFA World Cup.

Unforgettable will stay his hat-trick against Brazil in match Czechoslovakia - Brazil 3:2 (1:1) played at 23 June 1968 in Bratislava. He was the first player in the world who scored a hat-trick against Brazil.

After retiring as player, Adamec began with football coaching as assistant in Spartak Trnava. Later he coached Dukla Banská Bystrica, Tatran Prešov, Spartak Trnava (2001-03, 2005-06), Slovan Bratislava and Inter Bratislava. From 1999 to 2001 Adamec coached Slovakia national football team. He was coach of Spartak Trnava in season 2005/2006, via Artmedia he terminated coaching mothers club in 2006.
