Joseph Charles Shade (born 2 April 1993) is a British actor who played Peter Beale in EastEnders as a child from 1998 to 2004. He took over the role from Alex Stevens.

In an interview, Adam Woodyatt (who played Joseph's on-screen father) said that he had great fun working with the three child actors who played his children; the only problem was that Joseph was so interested in all the toys on set, it was difficult to get him to concentrate on filming. Eastenders wanted more older children to play the part of Peter Beale. He started his career by doing adverts - including appearances in British Gas, British Airways and Sainsburys. He has also done modeling work.

In 2004, Joseph and Casey Anne Rothery, who played his on screen twin sister Lucy Beale, were replaced with new actors, James Martin and Melissa Suffield, to play the twins.
