Josef Boumedienne:
Josef Boumedienne (born January 12, 1978 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a professional hockey defenceman. He has signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL for the 2008–2009 season. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, fourth round, 91st overall. He has played for the Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning and New Jersey Devils.
Since fall 2004 Boumedienne has also Finnish nationality, however, he is ineligible to play for the Finnish national team (despite willing to) as he has played for Sweden at junior levels. Boumedienne's mother is Finnish and his father Algerian; he shares his surname with former Algerian president Houari Boumedienne. He has announced his intentions to play for the Algerian national ice hockey team, if the plan for that comes to fruition.
