[edit] Club career

A product of Real Madrid youth ranks, Callejón made his professional debut for its B team in May 2007,[2]and played four games in 2006–07's second division without scoring a goal.[3]

In 2007–08, he played in 37 games and scored 21 goals,[4]finishing the season as the clubs' top goalscorer, in Segunda División B.

At the end of the season, Callejón left Real Madrid (as twin brother Juanmi) and signed a four-season contract with RCD Espanyol.[5][6]He made his top flight debut on September 20, 2008, as a late substitute in a 1-1 home draw with Getafe CF.

On March 15, 2009, as Espanyol struggled immensely in the league, Callejón netted his first goal for the Catalonians, in a 3-3 home draw against RCD Mallorca.

[edit] International career

Callejón made his debut for the Spanish under-21 team on March 25, 2008 against Kazakhstan, in an Euro 2009 qualifier. He came in at the 46th minute, replacing Bojan Krkić, and scored a goal just 15 minutes later, in a 5-0 final win.[7]
