This is a Spanish name; the first family name is dos Santos and the second is Ramírez. Jonathan dos Santos Ramírez (born 26 April 1990 in Monterrey) is a Mexican football midfielder who plays for Barcelona Atlètic. He is the son of former footballer Gerardo dos Santos, better known as "Zizinho", and the younger brother of Giovani dos Santos and Éder dos Santos. Despite being brothers, Jonathan has stated that he and his older brother have different playing styles.
[edit] Club careerJonathan was brought to FC Barcelona when he represented Monterrey in a tournament in France.[1] He began in the Infantil B, and has been rising through the lower categories of the club blaugrana: Infantil A, the Cadete B, Cadete A, and Juvenil B. In the 2008–09 season, he was in Juvenil A, where he was captain of the team.[2] That same season he obtained the Spanish passport, so he became a European community player, being able to play in the first team.[3] In the summer of 2009, he was selected by the manager of Barcelona Atlètic, Luis Enrique to form part of the final team of the second team blaugrana.[4] Instead, the coach of the first team Josep Guardiola, called him to the first team during the pre-season in England and he also toured the United States with the first team of Barcelona.[5] On 15 August 2009, Jonathan was called for his first official game with the first team: Supercopa de España, against Athletic Bilbao,[6] although finally was ruled out and saw the game as a spectator.[7] He made his debut with FC Barcelona Atlètic on 5 September against Mallorca B, the match finished in a 1–1 draw.[8] Jonathan made his debut with Barcelona on 28 October 2009 substituting for Seydou Keita in the 80 minute in an away Copa del Rey match against Cultural Leonesa, the match finished in a 2–0 win for Barcelona.[9] He made his Champions League debut with FC Barcelona on 24 November 2009 against Internazionale in a 2-0 win at the Camp Nou, when he replaced Andrés Iniesta in the 92 min. [edit] International careerHe was called by Javier Aguirre to the Mexican national football team on 29 September 2009, to dispute a friendly game against Colombia,[10] which took place 30 September. In that game, dos Santos debuted as a starter, and got substituted by Patricio Araujo on minute 72. Colombia won the game 2–1.[11] [edit] References
