John Humphreys (born 22 October 1978) is an Australian economist who currently works as a research fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies.

Humphreys graduated from the University of Queensland in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in economics (Honours).

He was the founder of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Australian Libertarian Society [1] and is a significant personality in the Australian libertarian community.

Humphreys is a Director of the Human Capital Project, a non-profit organisation that invests in the university education of poor Cambodian students.

He has worked previously as a policy analyst for the Commonwealth Treasury, consultant for the Centre for International Economics, volunteer lecturer at Chea Sim Kamchaymear University (previously called Maharishi Vedic University) in Cambodia, and academic tutor for the University of Queensland.
