John Frieda (born June 1951 in London[1]) is an English celebrity hairstylist who built hair salon and hair product businesses. The hair product business[2] was acquired in 2002 by Kao Corporation, Japan. The hair products he created are widely available in the United States and many other countries[3]. [edit] BiographyJohn Frieda is the third of four children of Isidore Frieda and Hannah Mary Docherty, both deceased. Isidore’s father left Poland and set up a barber shop in London’s Fleet Street. Isidore worked as a hairstylist in London’s Hyde Park Hotel where he cultivated an elite clientele. He later established several businesses in a London suburb, Ealing, including a hair salon where John worked part time while at high school. Isidore mentored John and invested in his early ventures. Hannah Docherty (1916) was the eldest daughter of 10 children born to Catholic parents in the then iron working town of Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. Hannah's father, Johnny Docherty, was a highly-paid steel roller in a local steel mill and was well known for his immoderate lifestyle. John's siblings are Jocelyn Simpson, Paul Frieda (a Lean Six Sigma consultant) and Nigel Frieda (the owner of Osea Island, who founded the British female group, Sugababes, and was married to the historian Leonie Frieda). John was married to the Scottish singer Lulu, with whom he had a son, the actor Jordan Frieda. He now lives with Frances Avery Agnelli née Howe (1965), an Anglo-American architect and the widow of Fiat heir, Giovanni Alberto Agnelli (son of the Italian entrepreneur and politician, Umberto Agnelli). Frances has a daughter from her marriage to Giovanni, Virginia Asia Agnelli. John and Frances together have a daughter, Leyla Luna (2005), and a son, Jackson John (2007). [edit] References
