Kennedy High School is a public high school located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa that was founded in 1967. The building was dedicated by Senator Edward M. Kennedy, younger brother of the school's namesake. The original student body of 10th, 11th and 12th grades were mainly former Washington High Students from the north side of town. A far smaller number came from Jefferson's north side. The school's athletic teams are known as the Cougars. The Varsity show choir is known as Happiness, Inc, the prep show choir is known as Protege, and the freshman show choir is known as Chanteurs. Kennedy's band participated in the Chicago 2006 Heritage Festival. Kennedy is also known for its outstanding golf team. The cougars are coached by Mark Wilden and are led by Mitch Martin (So.) Dane Worley (Jr.) Cody Bell (So.) Issac Brown (Sr.) and Connor Steele (Sr.). Kennedy High School offers a great education, as shown by being listed among the top 100 high schools in the United States. The Kennedy Orchestra is conducted by John Hall. [edit] Notable Alumni
