John Du Prez (born 14 December 1946 in Sheffield, England) is a musician and composer. [edit] CareerDu Prez has often worked with Eric Idle for the music for Monty Python, most notably the score for Monty Python's The Meaning of Life and A Fish Called Wanda. He also co-wrote the music for the stage musical Spamalot. He is probably best known as having been the shaven-headed trumpet player in the 1980s pop group Modern Romance, who had a string of Top 40 hits from 1981-83, and made many guest appearances on the BBC programme Top of the Pops. Working under the name Trevor Jones, he is credited with writing a Greek dance music piece in the movie Time Bandits[citation needed], but the same song can also be heard on the Philip Pickett CD The Alchemist, where the song is called "Bacchanalia" and is attributed to John Du Prez. He also did the music and the intro theme of the British series Captain Star. John Du Prez also composed music for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, composing either solo or with David Frank, under the name "Orchestra On The Half Shell," and also contributed to the films Once Bitten and UHF. He has recently contributed to the soundtrack of the animated film The Wild.
