Joël Thomas (born 30 June 1987 in Caen, France) is a French professional footballer who plays as a striker for Colchester United.

Thomas joined French side Bordeaux in 2005 and spent two years with them before moving to Germany with Kaiserslautern. Playing for the reserve side, Thomas was released at the end of 2007. In April 2008, Thomas had a ten-day trial with Scottish Premier League side Dundee United,^[1] with a trial at Premier League club Wigan Athletic in August.^[2] Shortly after that, Thomas joined Hamilton Accies.^[3] He signed for colchester for a reported fee of £125,000, on the 21st July 2009 from Hamilton Academical^[4] Thomas was coveted by the Mali national football team while he was playing for Colchester.^[5]
