[edit] College career

Jim Sorgi played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers.

[edit] Pro career

Jim Sorgi was drafted in the sixth round in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Since then, Sorgi has proved to be an adequate back-up to starting QB Peyton Manning. While Manning gets the vast majority of the playing time, in his first season, Sorgi found some playing time against the Denver Broncos in which he threw for 175 yards and 1 TD. In the 2004 NFL season, Jim Sorgi completed 17 of 29 attempts and threw for 175 yards. In the 2005 NFL season, he gained slightly more playing time, and completed 42 of 61 attempts for 444 yards. The bulk of his playing time in 2005 came in the game against the Seattle Seahawks at the end of the regular season when he played for most of the game.

In the 2008 season, he saw no playing time until the final regular-season game. [2] He had a majority of the playing time in the 2008 preseason, as Peyton Manning was recovering from knee surgery. As of the end of the 2008 regular season, he has six career touchdown passes and one interception.

On December 9, 2009, Sorgi was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury in his throwing arm.

[edit] Personal

Sorgi and his wife, Lana, reside with their sons, James III and Jackson, in Brownsburg, Indiana.
