Jim Renacci (born December 3, 1958) is an Ohio entrepreneur and former mayor of Wadsworth, Ohio. He is currently running for the United States House of Representatives in Ohio's 16th congressional district.
[edit] Early lifeJim Renacci was born December 3, 1958, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Renacci’s father was a railroad worker and his mother was a nurse. Renacci earned a degree in business administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and became a Certified Public Accountant and financial adviser. [edit] Business careerRenacci worked as a CPA after college. In 1985 Jim Renacci forming LTC Management Services. LTC’s primary business was to own, operate and manage nursing facilities throughout Ohio. The company has since sold many of its facilities but remains one of Ohio’s leading management companies. In 2003, Renacci formed the LTC Companies group, a financial consulting service which included a partial ownership of three Harley-Davidson dealerships in Columbus, the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion in Columbus, and Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet in Wadsworth. Renacci became a partner and managing board member of the Columbus Destroyers. The team finished the 2007 season as the AFL Eastern Conference Champions with Renacci as President and General Manager.[1] However, the team was unable to repeat its success in 2008 with a disappointing 3-13 record. Renacci also served as AFL Executive Committee Vice Chairman and is a partial owner of the Lancaster JetHawks, a minor league baseball team. [edit] Political careerRenacci served on with the Wadsworth Volunteer Fire Department from 1984-1988 and served on the Board of Zoning Appeals from 1993 to 1994. In 1994, he was elected to Wadsworth City Council. In 1995, Renacci was appointed to the Wadsworth Planning Commission and in 1999 was elected City Council President. And from 1999 to 2002, Renacci served two terms as City Council President. In 2004, Renacci was elected Mayor of Wadsworth, a position he held until 2008. Renacci announced on August 24, 2009 that he will run for the U.S. House of Representatives in Ohio's 16th district.[2][3] The Republican National Committee has identified the Ohio 16th district has been identified as a top target.[4] The National Republican Congressional Committee added Renacci to the "on the radar" stage of the Young Guns program on October 27th, 2009.[5] Renacci has started the campaign strong having raised over $200,000 in his first month on the campaign trail.[6] [edit] References
