James "Jim" W. Birch was a professional rugby league footballer of the 1900s who at representative level played for Great Britain, and England, and at club level for Leeds, playing at Prop forward, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.

Jim Birch won a cap for England while at Leeds in 1908 against Wales, and won a cap for Great Britain while at Leeds in 1908 against New Zealand.[1]
