[edit] Early life

Jhene is the daughter of Christina Yamamoto and Karamo Chilombo. She is Japanese African American from her mom and African American native American from her dad. She has four siblings: Miyoko (sister), Jamila (sister), Miyagi (brother) and Jahi (brother) . Jhene is cousins with Lil Fizz of former group B2K. Jhene's older sisters Jamila and Miyoko toured with Immature and were in the group Gyrl, which was signed to MCA/ Silas records. This led to Jhene's first meeting with producer Chris Stokes when Jhene was five years old. Eventually Stokes heard her sing. When B2K signed with Epic Records, Jhene was signed as well.
