Jaypee University of Information Technology (also J. P. University of Information Technology and JUIT) is a private engineering university located at Waknaghat, Himachal Pradesh, India. The university curriculum focuses on undergraduate and postgraduate engineering studies and research in various engineering disciplines.
[edit] HistoryJaypee University of Information Technology is recognised by the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Set up by Act No. 14 of 2002[3] vide Extraordinary Gazette notification of Government of Himachal Pradesh dated May 23, 2002[1]. Approved by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, the University commenced academic activities from July 2002.  [edit] LocationThe university is located 3 kilometers off National Highway 22 (from Waknaghat) which runs from Kalka to Shimla (India). The Breathtaking views from the university campus, spread over 25 acres (100,000 m2) of lush green picturesque slopes of Waknaghat, refreshes the environment of the university. The pictorious town of Kasauli can be seen from the university on one side, far on the hill. Though the university campus is situated off the National Highway, but can be reached easily at any time via taxi cabs and autorikshaws available at University Gate and Waknaghat. Nearest railway station is Kandaghat, 8 kilometers from Waknaghat and the nearest airport is Shimla. Regular bus facility is available to Chandigarh, Delhi and most major stations of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab at Shimla and Solan bus stations.  [edit] Administration
 [edit] Academic programmesThe university offers following undergraduate degree programmes:
The duration of all the above programs are four years. Postgraduate programs of Master of Technology and Ph.D. are also offered by the university in various disciplines. In addition to the above mentioned programs, a dual degree program is also offered, wherein a student spends four years at JUIT attending aforementioned programs and one year of the MBA program at the Jaypee Business School, NOIDA.  [edit]90% of the total students lives on-campus. On-campus boarding capacity is for up to 1500 students. All rooms are internetworked and are provided with internet access. Single and double rooms are available for lodging with the former being slightly more expensive than the latter. Each student is provided with a bed, an almirah, a rack & shelf and a study table. Food at the college mess - Annapurna - is available to students living on-campus without extra payment. Gymnasium facilities are also available. [edit] Computing facilitiesThere are more than 900 IBM Desktops in the academic block available to students in various labs. [edit] Annapurna MessThere are two large student messes. Food chosen by the mess administration is provided for the students three times a day. For eating out of the campus, students have the options of food kiosks by local residents called Tiggi Point,Moksha and Aap Ki Rasoi. [edit] Cafeteria and Tuck ShopA cafeteria and a tuck shop cater to students need of buying eatables, stationary and toiletries. These places are mostly thronged with students at the off academic sessions. [edit] Events[edit] Le FiestusThe Official Festival of JUIT. It is a 3 day event and usually held in month of April. [edit] IMST 2009-FIM XVIII ConferenceThe university is going to host Eighteenth International Conference of Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics on Interdisciplinary Mathematical and Statistical Techniques[4] from August 2, 2009 to August 4, 2009. The conference will be hosted in collaboration with renowned faculties from University of South Alabama (USA), University of Wollongong (Australia), Auburn University (USA) and University of Delhi (India). Researchers from around the world will be presenting papers on the following topics during the conference:
