Jason played junior rugby for the Newsome Panthers in Huddersfield.

Jason signed for the Bulls in 2007 from the Newsome Panthers. Strong running and with tremendous feet and a quick turn of pace, he impressed all the coaching staff with his ability and his attitude.^{[citation needed]} Jason has made rapid strides at the club and has been given a place in the first team squad this season. Boss Steve McNamara will hand the talented centre a full-time squad place for 2007.^{[citation needed]}

McNamara feels he will benefit from maximum exposure to the professional ranks and said: "Jason Crookes has huge potential... He is only 16 but we're bringing him into the full-time squad to try and progress him as quickly as we can."^{[citation needed]}

"He is a tough, quick player and another young prospect that we feel will benefit from this sort of environment, and progress into a super league player."^{[citation needed]}

Crookes was in squad to face Huddersfield Giants and Harlequins in 2007 due to a number of injuries to the squad.

Jason is on loan at Widnes Vikings for the 2008 season.

Crooks made his debut against Hull F.C. in the 16th March 2009.

And then went on to play a number of first grade games before tearing his cruciate ligament which would lay him off for the rest of the season McNamra stated " its a mind boggeling injury for such a young player but am sure he'l come back stronger and much better"
