Jamie McNamara (born 3 June, 1988) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League.

Jamie Mcnamara attended Applecross Senior High School in Perth, Western Australia and graduated in 2005.

McNamara was recruited from East Fremantle with the 16th pick in the 2006 rookie draft, receiving the number 12 jersey.

[edit] Career

McNamara made his debut against St. Kilda Football Club in round 21 2007 at Telstra Dome. He picked up 10 disposals in an 8 point win. He was dropped for the next two games but was a late replacement for Beau Waters for the semi final against Collingwood. McNamara managed 16 disposals in West Coast's 19 point loss in extra time.

McNamara had to wait until Round 4 2008 to get his next opportunity at AFL Football. He was dropped after that game but managed 11 games for the season including the last 7 consecutive matches.

McNamara played his fist game for 2009 against Melbourne in Round 7.

On the 7th of June against Geelong Football Club, Mcnamara suffered one of his most embarrassing moments. On a boundary throw-in, Dean Cox palmed the ball to Mcnamara who ran on, gathered possession, ran 20 metres and kicked in the wrong direction. This resulted in a Geelong goal.

As of the 9th of October 2009, Mcnamara has played 19 games in the AFL Competition, kicking 4 goals and racking up 282 possessions.

Jamie has been effective in the midfield for the West Coast Eagles and is now being played as a tagger in the WAFL competition.

[edit] Future

McNamara was de-listed by the Eagles in October just before list lodgement day. The Eagles had a tough choice between McNamara and Mark Nicoski as there was only one spot on their list to fill. Mark Nicoski's experience won in the end but McNamara has a chance to be re-drafted by the Eagles or any other club in the upcoming Pre-season or Rookie Draft which are both held on December 15 2009.
