James Reimer (born March 15, 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Reimer grew up in Morweena, Manitoba and played his first years of minor hockey in Arborg. He was drafted 99th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft from the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL. Prior to his time in the WHL, he played for the Interlake Lightning in the Manitoba AAA Midget league.^[1]

Much of Reimer's 2008-2009 season was spent with the Reading Royals of the ECHL, where he recorded a record of 10-7-3, with a GAA of 3.30 and a .904 save percentage. However, some of it was spent briefly with the Toronto Marlies. On December 27, 2008, Reimer earned his first AHL win for the Toronto Marlies in a 3-2 shootout victory against the Manitoba Moose.^[2] In three games for the Marlies, Reimer accumulated a record of 1-2, with a GAA of 3.28 and a .882 save percentage.

The Leafs, knowing that the futility of their ECHL affiliate nearly guaranteed that their team would finish last and would not help develop Reimer, had him traded/loaned from the Reading Royals to the (Charleston) South Carolina Stingrays on the league's trade deadline day.^[3] The Stingrays had a problem with goaltenders all season long (eight goaltenders used during the season), and Reimer was able to help the Stingrays win their third Kelly Cup Championship, and Most Valuable Player honours in the Kelly Cup Finals, winning Game 7.

In 2009, Reimer participated in the Maple Leafs' pre-season training camp, and was eventually sent down to their farm club, the Toronto Marlies, to serve as their backup goalie. On October 13, 2009, Reimer was called up to the Toronto Maple Leafs after an injury to incumbent starting goalie Vesa Toskala opened up a roster spot for him to serve as the their backup goalie.^[4] Reimer's stint with the parent club ended on October 25, 2009 when he was sent back down to the Marlies having not seen any playing time while with the Leafs.
