- On March 17 2009, Friend was found guilty of Drink-Driving. He was disqualified from driving for 16 months.
- On the 27th June, Friend along with Roosters Player Sandor Earl with both charged with a total of three assault charges. Friend and Earl were allege to have been throwing haymakers in the brawl at the Tank Nightclub. When a woman tried to break up the fight she was hit by Friend & Earl and left with bruising from her ear to lower neck.
- On 13 December, 2009, Friend was arrested and charged by police following an altercation with a taxi driver.[1] As a result the Roosters terminated his contract.
