Jaime Omar García (born July 8, 1986 in Reynosa, Mexico) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals.

[edit] Professional career

García was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 22nd round of the 2005 MLB Draft. He was called up to the Majors from Triple-A Memphis on July 10, 2008 and made his debut relieving on July 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, pitching two innings, giving up just one hit, walking one, and striking out two.

On September 5, 2008, it was announced that García would undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss most if not all of the 2009 season.

Late in the 2009 season, Garcia came back with Memphis. On September 9, 2009, Garcia retired the first 13 batters he faced in the Redbirds first playoff game against the Albuquerque Isotopes. In the fifth inning with one out, Garcia allowed an infield single to Jamie Hoffmann. In that game, it looked like he was going to throw a complete game, but a 2 hour 21 minute rain delay chased him out of the game. The Redbirds won 6-2 and swept the series 3-0.
