Jaime Camil is the son of a Mexican businessman of Egyptian descent Jaime Camil Garza and one well-known Brazilian singer. He started his career as a radio commentator on Radioactivo 98.5. Later, in 1995, he made his small-screen debut as a host in El show de Jaime Camil. Jaime continued as a host in TV Azteca's Qué nochecita con Jaime Camil (1996) and Televisa's Operación Triunfo (2002). In 1999, he released his first album Para Estar Contigo, which took him to major cities in Mexico, South America, and the United States. After participating in Tributo a las Víctimas del 9/11 (2001), Jaime released his second album, titled "Una Vez Más". Later he decided to join in the telenovela industry, where he made his debut in Mi destino eres tú (2000).

He debuted in the film Delfines in 1997, but it wasn't until 2003 when film producers noticed his talent in acting. He starred in three different films in just a year; Puños rosas (2003), Zapata (2004) and 7 días (2005). In 2004, Jaime Camil starred in the telenovela Mujer de Madera, in which he played "Cesar Linares". In 2005, the play Los reyes del mambo premiered in the Broadway. Jaime Camil was the producer and spokesman of the Mexican ShortShorts Film Festival as of 2006 .[1]

The role which finally brought Jaime Camil to universal renown was his role in the romantic comedy telenovela La fea más bella (2006-2007). His intrepetation of "Don Fernando Mendiola" won him a nomination as Best Actor in the Premios TVyNovelas Awards. Then he went on to film A propósito de Alexa in Ensenada, Baja California and París in May 2007. Jaime Camil was also the Spanish voice for "Barry" in the animated movie Bee Movie

In 2008-2009 he starred in Las Tontas No Van al Cielo with Jacqueline Bracamontes. The telenovela was extremely successful in the United States (which aired it on Univison) and Mexico (where it aired on El Canal de las Estrellas).
