Jack Anderson (born 1935) is an American dance critic and author. Since 1978, he has been a contributor of dance reviews and other articles in The New York Times. He has also written for the magazines Dancing Times (ISSN 0011-605X) and Dance (ISSN 0270-2215).

Anderson graduated from Northwestern University and received a Master's degree in creative writing from Indiana University.

Anderson is the son of Eleanore and George W. Anderson.

Anderson and George Dorris, a dance scholar and retired professor of English, were married in Toronto in 2006. As written in their New York Times wedding announcement:

"Mr. Anderson and Mr. Dorris are the co-editors of Dance Chronicle: Studies in Dance and the Related Arts, a scholarly journal published three times a year by Routledge. They knew each other slightly at Northwestern, and met again in 1965 on the subway platform at Lincoln Center after a New York City Ballet performance. They have been together for 41 years."[1]
