John Carlo "JC" Barreras Tiuseco (born April 16, 1985)is an actor, basketball player, TV host,& model and is a Chinese Filipino. He became a household name, when he made the selection for the final 16 castaways and more so after being hailed as the "Sole Survivor" in the very first season of the Philippine version of the reality television series Survivor. Outperforming thousands and thousands of applicants, till he finally ventured in outwitting the chosen castaways.
[edit] Personal lifeTiuseco was born in Manila, son of James Tiuseco a gutsy Businessman with a soft spot for his lovely wife Rosemarie Barreras a registered nurse & a businesswoman. Along with his siblings, his serene sister Vivian Tiuseco who manages the family business and his equally handsome brother Karl Anthony Tiuseco who works for one of the most reputable bank worldwide, the youngest of the pack "JC" sure has its perks, being the apple of the eyes, he sure got his family to support his conquest for a flourishing career. [edit] Early lifeTiuseco spent his grade school days in Chiang Kai Shek College and studied in Sunny Hill School during high school.[1] He was passionate about basketball since his childhood and dreamed of becoming a professional player.[2] Nothing beats the love for the game, when whats on the line is the school pride, with his Jersey no. 12 he played for San Sebastian College a member of the college's basketball team , which competes in NCAA Philippines.[citation needed]where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Management. [edit] Modelling careerTiuseco also works as a model. His most notable job was the Bench Denim and Underwear Fashion Show.[citation needed] He also placed second to his basketball teammate Ram Sagad (Pinoy Fear Factor contestant) in the 2007 Century Tuna Superbods Beachfest, and has appeared in one of Century Tuna's television advertisements.[3] Endorses Penshoppe for his clothing apparel. He also landed a spot as one of 2007 Cosmopolitan Magazine’s 69 Hot Bachelors.[4]
[edit] Survivor PhilippinesTiuseco became notable when he decided to join the Philippines' franchise of the reality television series Survivor, Survivor Philippines. He defeated Robert Vincent "Rob" Sy, 7-2, with the seventh vote resulting from him winning a popularity vote. Tiuseco's win was already leaked months earlier, however, when a showbiz-oriented website published the alleged results of the Final Tribal Council on October 2008 after two of the show's staff were overheard in a coffee shop about the show's outcome. Paolo Bediones, the host of the show, labeled that website's report as a spoiler when that article first appeared.[5] [edit] Post-Survivor PhilippinesTiuseco said that Survivor Philippines helped him a lot in his life. He learned how to be contented of what he has right now. He also gained confidence to face problems that will come in his life.[6] Because of his good looks, many people were speculating that Tiuseco will enter the world of show business. He said that if there's an opportunity given to him, he'll probably enter show business. He is currently taking up a dance workshop and voice lessons in University of the Philippines.[6] He is currently hosting in the GMA Network weekday morning show, Unang Hirit. He is also the endorser of Elements, the new perfume of Penshoppe as well as the clothing apparel. As an actor, Tiuseco played minor roles in GMA shows until he has given a major role of Troy (originally played by Tonton Gutierrez) in Sine Novela: Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin which stars Maxene Magalona, Patrick Garcia, and Glaiza de Castro.
