JCDecaux Group (Euronext: DEC) (French pronunciation: [ʒisedəˈko]) is a multinational corporation based in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, that is active primarily in advertising. JCDecaux is the second largest outdoor advertising corporation in the world.[1] It is especially well known for its bus-stop advertising systems, billboards, bicycles (in France), and street furniture. The company was founded in 1964 in Lyon, France by Jean-Claude Decaux. Over the years it has expanded aggressively, partly through acquisitions of smaller advertising companies in several countries. It currently operates in more than 54 countries, 165 airports and has approximately 8900 employees; its advertising reaches 175 million people every day.[citation needed] Its headquarters are located in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris, France. The company has also pioneered the modern Sanisette public toilet as well as a shared bicycle scheme in Paris called Vélib, which it finances in return for the city of Paris signing over a 10-year licence to exploit 1,600 city-wide billboards. This is a soft dollar form of transit media. [edit] References[edit] External links
