J P Dutta (born 3 October 1949 in Mumbai, Maharashtra) is an Indian Bollywood film producer and director. Mr. Dutta produces his films under the banner of JP Films. He is known for directing many patriotic war films and films in the action genre. His films often have ensemble star casts. In 1998, he got 'National Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration' from President of India for his super hit film "Border". Due to the national scale of the National Film Awards, it is considered equivalent of the American Academy Awards. Misistry of Defense Gives him full support for his war films. In Indian Army, No celebration is complete, without playing the song 'Sandese ate hain' from his film "Border". Some of the Bollywood Hindi films that he has written, produced and directed are Border, Refugee, LOC Kargil and Umrao Jaan. He is the son of O.P. Dutta who has himself been a director, story writer and dialogue writer in Bollywood films. O.P. Dutta also writes dialogues for most of J P Dutta's films. In his personal life J P Dutta is married to the Bollywood film actress Bindiya Goswami with whom he has two daughters Nidhi and Siddhi.
