Jérémie Janot (born October 11, 1977 in Valenciennes) is a French football (soccer) goalkeeper playing for the club of his youth, AS Saint-Étienne. He has remained loyal to the club throughout his entire career, including relegations. He set a record of 1534 minutes without letting in a goal at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. He was voted "goalkeeper of the year" by L'Equipe after the 2006-07 season. Janot is known for his hatred of Olympique Lyonnais (ASSE's traditional rivals) and thought about wearing an AC Milan kit during his match the weekend after Milan had knocked Lyon out of the UEFA Champions League. He was considered one of the possibilities to replace the injured Grégory Coupet for the French national team, but Teddy Richert and Ulrich Ramé were called up instead, to compete with Mickaël Landreau and Sebastien Frey. In addition, youngsters Hugo Lloris and Steve Mandanda have been called up to the national team ahead of Janot, making a call-up in the near future very unlikely. [edit] See also[edit] Trivia
