The Isthmian League Premier Division is the top division of the Isthmian League. It is at the seventh tier of football in England. The champions and play-off winners are promoted to the Conference South and the bottom four teams are relegated to Division One North or South. It is sponsored by Ryman, and therefore officially known as the Ryman League Premier Division.
[edit] History
From 1973–74, and the introduction of a second division, till 1976–77, this league was named the Isthmian League First Division; it was rebranded the Premier Division upon the introduction of a third division of the Isthmian League.
After the league became part of the football pyramid in 1985, it was at the sixth tier of the system. However, since 2004, it has been at the seventh tier, parallel to the Northern Premier League Premier Division and the Southern League Premier Division.
