Iranian hip hop refers to hip hop music from Iran.

With the introduction of satellite television in Iran in the early 1990s and world-wide recognition of hip hop and its American artists such as 2pac, NWA and Eminem, hip hop found a following among the Iranian youth (mostly born after the Islamic Revolution of 1979). They started paying attention to the beats and rhythmic lyrics present in hip hop and eventually turned to creating this genre of music in Persian. Soon they turned from rap enthusiasts to poets and rap producers, bringing to light how they saw life as Iranians and what they wanted from the world.

1. Individuals or groups that are looking for social and political issues ,like [HichKas (Saamet)] , [Yas]. They are protest to government policies, cruel situation in Iran and social problems.

2. They used it as a means of self expression, creating such underground artists such as [Daad],[HichKas], [ZedBazi], [Yas], [Pishro], [Atoor],[Bahram], ... each adding his own flavor to Persian hip hop.
