The Interactive Achievement Awards (IAA's) are the only peer based awards that recognize the year's best videogames, computer games, online entertainment, outstanding individuals, and groundbreaking development teams that have propelled the advancement of the multi-billion dollar worldwide entertainment software industry. The awards presented by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) are determined by a vote of field -specific, qualified Academy members, making the Interactive Achievement Awards the most sought after, respected and credible recognition for creators of entertainment software.

The winners of the Interactive Achievement Awards are determined by secure ballot of industry experts. These experts comprise an incredible body of accomplishments in all facets of game craft: art, design, engineering, animation, performance and production. That these men and women determine the finalists and winners, distinguishes the Interactive Achievement Awards from any other.
All Academy voting is conducted in secret-online, secure, supervised and certified by eBallot Inc. The integrity of this system coupled with a broad based voting population of the Academy's membership assures that the Interactive Achievement Award recipients are honored among peers.
The Interactive Achievement Awards were broadcast in 2009 on the Independent Film Channel (IFC)
