IndyMogul is an Internet-based video webcast consisting of a number of weekly shows that air on the website, IndyMogul.com and YouTube, among others as part of Fred Seibert and Herb Scannell's Next New Networks block of internet programming alongside Channel Frederator, VODCars, FastLaneDaily, ThreadBanger and other niche networks. Indymogul is the network for DIY film-makers that shows viewers Film-making tips, Film reviews, Celebrity interviews, and much more. The IndyMogul headquarters is in the Next New Networks office in New York City.
[edit] The hosts of IndyMogulErik Beck Erik Beck is the actor, producer, filmmaker and master of low-budget special effects who co-founded Indy Mogul in 2007. As Executive Producer and host of Indy Mogul's most-viewed show, Backyard FX, Erik creates his own special effects, produces short films, and occasionally interviews the film industry's leading special effect professionals. Erik and his work have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, MediaWeek, Popular Mechanics Magazine, NewTeeVee, CNN, G4 TV, and he recently won two Webby Awards in 2009. Bobby Miller Bobby Miller is a writer/director/animator/cartoonist/actor/bad musician. He hosts The Reel Good Show on Indy Mogul and was previously the host and producer of the network's Webby Award winning "The Best Short Films in the World." Bobby's writing has appeared in the Onion News Network and The Huffington Post, and his feature length screenplays have been finalists and quarterfinalists in numerous screenplay competitions. His script, "Fat Boy," was recently requested by Lions Gate, and others for production consideration. Bobby is currently in post-production on his short film "TUB," his last short film before moving onto features and has also released an EP of music called "Sorry Lovers" under his moniker "The BMill Project." Grace Randolph Grace Randolph is a comedic actor and writer who created and currently hosts, writes, and produces Beyond the Trailer for Next New Networks. Grace is a graduate of NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts where she studied film & television. After graduating, Grace founded the improv comedy sketch group 'Monkeys in the Atrium.' The troop has performed and held permanent slots at many renown comedy clubs in NYC including Joe Franklin's Comedy Club in Times Square, Greenwich Village's The Comedy Cellar, and Gotham Comedy Club where Grace shared the bill with Darrel Hammond of the SNL cast. In 2007, Grace began working in online video, creating TV Recap Theater and the movie review show, RevYou (Beyond the trailer's parent show). Grace also writes comic books for DC Comics and TOKYOPOP. [edit] Backyard FXBackyard FX (or BFX) was the first show produced by Indy Mogul. Erik Beck and his team of special effects wizards create a prop, show how to do make-up, or create a certain special effect under a budget of one hundred dollars every week, adhering to their motto of, "Fun. Cheap. Filmmaking." A test film comes out the next day showing off the certain effect for that week. Special episodes are released every so often, including "Your FX", a display of viewers props or effects, and "Hollywood FX" were Erik interviews actual prop builders and sfx teams and compares notes. Whenever IndyMogul is sponsered by a film, there is usually a build episode releating to the certain movie. For example, the barbers chair from Sweeney Todd was built and many creative death scenes were made for The Final Destination On January 4th 2010, Erik Beck announced he would no longer be the host of BFX. There is currently a contest running to select the new host. [edit] Beyond The TrailerGrace Randolph makes weekly episodes concerning current Hollywood films; in each episode she interviews viewers and critics alike to provide viewers with critical information pertaining to the movies that they might not be able to glean from reading the reports of professional critics. By interviewing average movie-goers, Grace supplies her viewers with criticism by the average movie-goer, for the average movie-goer. Certain episodes called "Movie Math" discuss the weekend box office results. She is currently giving out free AMC theater movie tickets every week in the "one sentence review" challenge, in which viewers submit one sentence reviews for a specific film that week. Grace Randolph started making Beyond The Trailer in November 2008 and has been making it since. New episodes come out on Saturday & Sunday [edit] The Reel Good ShowIn "The Reel Good Show" Bobby Miller interviews various minor celebrities and internet stars in a parody-type format. The show is brodcast live on the internet from the IndyMogul studios on a small set that has a couch for the quests and a desk where Miller sits. Bobby asks strange and random questions to the guests, and gives them "Ten Seconds To Promote Yourself" in which they have ten seconds to give out information about themselves. The show has had guest appearances by Jake and Amir from College Humor, MeMe Molly, Lloyd Kaufman, and Nostradamus (Via time machine). The show features live viewer questions and is broadcast live on the internet every week, then released on Youtube and the indymogul website two weeks later. New episodes come out on Thursday [edit] Q and ErikQ and Erik is a question-and-answer format show hosted by Erik Beck that answers questions from the viewers which would ordinarily be too small to be featured in a full episode. It originally aired on Thursdays and was aired within the first episode of "Weekend Extra" (See article below) but was dropped until several months later when they decided to give it its own show. The weekly edition of "Q and Erik" was officially canceled on June 5, 2008, replaced by the monthly half-hour live broadcast "Q and Erik Live" [1] Canceled [edit] 4 Minute Film School4 minute film school shows viewers film making tips such as working with different camera angles, advice and general knowledge in working with editing, and information on multiple aspects of both pre- and post-production. [edit] The Best Short Films in the WorldIndy Mogul's The Best Short Films in the World was a show hosted by independent film-maker Bobby Miller. Every Thursday the show featured four short films that met the show's criteria and theme for the week, interspersed with humorous introductions by Bobby. It received the 2009 People's Voice Award by the Webby's in the category of "Variety Show"[2], beating out Jimmy Fallon[3]. The show ended shortly after on May 14, 2009. Canceled [edit] MogulWeenMogulWeen is what the month of October is referred to on IndyMogul. The month of MogulWeen brings Halloween themed episodes to all of the shows. All of the BFX episodes have Halloween themed builds, The Reel Good Show has a Halloween themed opening, and Beyond The Trailer comes out with a weekly video about Movies past and present that have similar themes. Mogulween of 2009 had a short film contest in which viewers had to send in a 60 second film with a Halloween theme. The winners received a video camera with the MogulWeen logo on it. [edit] Indy Mogul and the Film IndustryNot even a year into existence, Indy Mogul expanded its audience and began interviewing professionals in the film industry. They have interviewed, to date: Scarface and A Bronx Tale editor David Ray[4]; Sam Reich[5], creator of Dutch West and Director of Original Content for CollegeHumor; writer Dan Harmon; drawless animator Rob Schrab; and Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel. The larger and more diverse following allowed Indy Mogul to promote Rambo and The Final Destination[6],War[7] And Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (film) Indy mogul has over 139,000 YouTube subscribers who enjoy everything the network has to offer. Indy Mogul currently holds the #17 position for the most subscribers of all time under "Guru" on YouTube.[8] [edit] Indy Mogul and the MediaIndy Mogul has been featured on a number of online news sites including CNN[9], NewTeeVee[10], MediaWeek[11], Wall Street Journal[12], and most recently featured on G4[13]. IndyMogul has also won a few webby awards as well.
