India shares a 4023 km border with Bangladesh to the east.^[1] Indian states of West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram are situated along the border.

Indian Government has sanctioned the construction of 3406 km along the Indo-Bangladesh border. It also includes installation of flood lights in the West Bengal sector. The project was sanctioned for 2881 crore rupees (600 millions US dollars) and expected to be complete by 2009. As of November 2007, 2529 KM border fencing is complete.^[2]
