The 13th congressional district of Illinois covers the southwest suburbs of Chicago, including portions of the Cook, DuPage, and Will counties. Since 1999 it has been represented by Republican Judy Biggert.

In the 2004 U.S. General Election, this district voted for George W. Bush with 55% to 45% for John Kerry. However, in 2008, the district flipped and voted for Barack Obama, like other suburban Chicago districts.

Donald Rumsfeld, most notable for being the 13th and 21st U.S. Secretary of Defense, represented the district from January 3, 1963 – March 20, 1969, although the former 13th district was a north suburban district and encompassed much of the current 8th and 10th Congressional districts.
