The IV Army Corps was a formation of the Imperial German Army. It was established on October 3, 1815 as the General Command in the Duchy of Saxony (Generalkommando im Herzogtum Sachsen) and became the IV Army Corps on August 30, 1818. Prior to World War I, it was stationed in Magdeburg, but in August 1914, it was transferred to the Western Front as part of First Army, leaving a corps rear area in Magdeburg to handle administrative matters and induction and training of recruits. Notable commanding generals include Leonhard Graf von Blumenthal (1871-1888), Paul von Hindenburg (1903-1911), and Friedrich Bertram Sixt von Armin (1911-1917). At the outbreak of World War I, IV Army Corps comprised the following units:
