ISO 3166-2:AZ is the entry in ISO 3166-2, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which defines codes for the names of the principal subdivisions of Azerbaijan (whose ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code is AZ).

Currently two levels of subdivisions are assigned codes:

• 1 autonomous republic — Its code consists of two letters.
• 11 cities and 65 rayons^{[note 1]} — Each code starts with AZ-, followed by two (cities) or three (rayons) letters.

These codes are defined in the official standard without the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of the country as prefix, and thus do not guarantee uniqueness in a global context by themselves. They can be completed by adding AZ-.

1. ^ The eleven cities assigned codes have special status equal to the rayons. Naxçıvan, the capital of the autonomous republic Naxçıvan which has special status, and Kəngərli, a rayon created in 2004 (also in autonomous republic Naxçıvan), are not assigned codes.
2. ^ The name of Əli Bayramlı has been changed to Şirvan.
3. ^ The name of Xanlar has been changed to Göygöl.
