INVAP S.E. is an Argentine high-technology company dedicated to the design, integration, construction and delivery of equipment, plants and devices in areas of high complexity. INVAP has customers in more than 30 countries across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. INVAP delivers tailored made projects to the nuclear, aerospace, chemical, healthcare, chemical, oil and government industries.

INVAP was created in 1976. The company started as a spin off of research laboratories of the Argentinean Atomic Energy Commission. The company is an unlisted private company, the sole owner is the Río Negro Province.

The seat of the company is located in San Carlos de Bariloche, though its personnel work in different projects around the world.

INVAP is the only company in Argentina qualified by NASA (the US Aeronautics and Space Administration) for complete space projects^[1] In this field, INVAP has shown its proficiency as constructor of satellites, payloads and ground stations with the SAC satellite family, developed for the Argentine space agency CONAE, being the only company in Latin America with full life cycle capabilities, from design and development through mission control and operation support.^[2]

As of 2008, INVAP directly employs 600 persons, a figure that locally reaches close to 700 when a number of associated firms, contractors and suppliers are added.^[1]

In the field of nuclear projects, the company specializes in the following areas: design and construction of nuclear research reactors, radioisotope production plants, nuclear fuel manufacturing plants, uranium enrichment facilities, neutron beam transport systems, radiation protection instrumentation, reactor protection systems, modernization and refurbish of research reactors. Also consultancy and research activities for leading nuclear power plant suppliers on areas such as nuclear reactor fuels, isotope separation by laser and reactor core reshuffling studies for nuclear power plants.
