Ships built by Hyundai include the iron ore carrier Berge Stahl, which at 364,768 dead weight tons is one of the world's largest bulk haulers. The company makes ship engines, provides offshore oil and gas drilling platforms, and undersea pipelines.

Furthermore, the company produces a wide array of powerplant products, construction equipment, and industrial robots. The construction equipment is sold all over the world and include mini-excavators, crawler excavators, wheeled excavators, wheel loaders, skid steer loaders and forklift trucks (diesel, lpg and battery powered). It is the market leader in China for excavators.

Hyundai Heavy Industries has moved ahead more rapidly in the solar panel manufacturing space. In May it announced plans to invest 300 billion won ($270 million) in the expansion of its solar panel and solar cell production line by 2009, and last year completed a $30 million, 20-megawatt solar panel plant in Umsung, South Korea [4].

In February 2008, China's LDK Solar announced it had signed an eight-year deal to supply HHI with a total of 450 megawatts of solar wafers, and in June Germany's centrotherm photovoltaics AG said it would supply HHI with five solar cell manufacturing lines with a total capacity of 250 megawatts [4].
