The airport is located inland, 5km (3 miles) southwest of El Dahar (downtown Hurghada). In 2008 the airport handled 6,743,199 passengers (13.4% growth compared to 2007). [edit] Terminal The airport is currently served by one terminal. The terminal was renovated in 2004 with an expanded arrival and departure area. [edit] Future Developments - Construction of a new terminal at a cost of $300 million with an annual passenger capacity of 7.5 million. The planned opening date is 2011.
