[edit] History

HVFCU began in late 1963 when a group of IBM employees founded the IBM Poughkeepsie Employees Federal Credit Union. The credit union was established to provide a basic savings and consumer loans to Poughkeepsie IBM employees and their immediate families. At the end of the first year, they had 14 accounts and $172 in assets.

In 1993, the name of the CU was changed to Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union to reflect their change in membership requirements to serve a larger part of the community.

At the beginning of 2003, membership requirements were changed to allow those who live, work, or worship in Dutchess, Orange, or Ulster counties to join.
