[edit] Overview

The first HOB opened its doors on November 26, 1992 at Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The club was financed by Dan Aykroyd, Aerosmith, Paul Shaffer, River Phoenix, Jim Belushi and Harvard University among others. This venue has since closed[3] however, the original hands-in-concrete driveway still remains.

Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi remain closely associated with the brand and are present for most openings, most recently they attended in Houston and Boston.

HOB currently owns and operates 12 clubs throughout North America with its location in Atlantic City being franchised.

On July 5, 2006, Live Nation, the largest live entertainment company, acquired House of Blues.

[edit] Locations

Current locations include Lake Buena Vista, Florida; Cleveland; Myrtle Beach; Chicago; New Orleans; Minneapolis; West Hollywood; Anaheim; San Diego; Dallas; and Houston.

House of Blues also operates in Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada and the Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

On January 29, 2008, The Boston Globe reported that while in the midst of a multi-million dollar renovation of his Lansdowne Street clubs behind Fenway Park, Nightlife Impresario Patrick T. Lyons sold them to the House of Blues. The new Boston House of Blues, which includes the company's signature southern-inspired restaurant and Members-Only Foundation Room, is about 50,000 square feet (4,600 m2), three levels, a fully seated balcony, and VIP boxes.
