Season Six of the animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants on Nickelodeon, aired 39 episodes from March 3, 2008, to July 19, 2009. The sixth has yet to be released on DVD. [edit] Overview
[edit] Episodes[edit] House Fancy / Krabby Road
House Fancy Squilliam Fancyson's ostentatious multi-story home is featured on the TV show "House Fancy". Squidward, watching the show at home, becomes wildly jealous and makes an on-air phone call to "House Fancy" host Nicholas Withers (Alton Brown), bragging that his home is better. When Nicholas tells him the crew will be arriving in two hours, Squidward frantically attempts to renovate his Easter Island head home, reluctantly accepting SpongeBob's offer to assist. However, SpongeBob only ends up making things worse for Squidward; he splatters blue paint all over Squidward's living room, gets Squidward's toenail ripped clean off while "helping" him move his couch, and sucks everything in the house (including himself) into the vacuum cleaner until it explodes and destroys Squidward's house. At that moment, Nicholas and Squilliam arrive, and amazingly, Nicholas declares that Squidward's home (or what's left of it) is indeed better, much to Squilliam's dismay because it has created a new era in "House Fancy". This resulting into Nicholas Withers announcing his house on a 1-hour special.
Krabby Road Plankton breaks out of jail and returns to the Chum Bucket, only to be kicked out by Karen. At that moment, SpongeBob walks by singing a song about the Krabby Patty formula (with all ingredients censored out as per Mr. Krabs' orders), and Plankton starts a rock band called "Plankton and the Patty Stealers" with him, Patrick, and Squidward (who takes time out to get his body toned) in the hopes of getting the formula. However, in the end, Plankton is found out and sent back to jail. Note: The title of this episode is a reference to the Beatles album, Abbey Road [edit] Penny Foolish / Nautical Novice
Penny Foolish When he sees SpongeBob picking up a penny in the street and putting it in his pocket, Mr. Krabs goes to extraordinary lengths to get his hands on it - even building a movie theater next to the Krusty Krab so he can charge SpongeBob one penny admission. SpongeBob insists he doesn't have a penny. At SpongeBob's house, it is found that he merely picked up a dried-up piece of ABC gum for his personal collection, which, when Mr. Krabs leaves, turns out to be a $500 bill - but SpongeBob thinks it's worthless. Meanwhile, Mr. Krabs, still thinking that SpongeBob has a penny, is digging up SpongeBob's yard in an attempt to find it. Ironically, all that he did to try to acquire the penny most likely cost him far more than the single penny he was after.
Nautical Novice Mrs Puff announces a class field trip to the Nautical Museum (itself a huge ship), and SpongeBob sees his big opportunity to finally score his license, memorizing the entire history of boating in one night. But his overconfidence results in him seemingly accidentally starting the ship's engine.
[edit] Spongicus / Suction Cup Symphony
Spongicus To lure customers from the Krusty Krab, Plankton demolishes the Chum Bucket and builds an Ancient Roman-style colosseum in its place. Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob and Squidward decide to attend, but to their dismay the show consists of Patrick being chased around the arena by a hungry sea lion... that is, until SpongeBob steps in to save him.
Suction Cup Symphony Squidward races against the clock to write a piece for the Bikini Bottom Symphony Orchestra, but realizes to his horror during the performance that he has inadvertently incorporated sounds from outside - the strains of Dr. SpongeBob working on Patrick's broken butt. [edit] Not Normal / Gone
Not Normal Squidward tells SpongeBob that he needs to be more "normal". SpongeBob watches a video called "How To Be Normal For Beginners" and adopts a disturbingly dull personality, and eventually changes shape and loses his craters. Though things are initially good for SpongeBob this way, SpongeBob soon discovers that his "normal" self has numerous consequences; he creates pseudo-Krabby Patties made from paper, which leads to Mr. Krabs forcing him into a leave of absence, drives away Patrick due to his dull attitude, and insults Squidward by telling him that he himself is not "normal". Desiring to return to his original lifestyle, SpongeBob turns to Patrick for help.
Gone SpongeBob one day wakes up to discover that nobody is in Bikini bottom except for him. That night he's very upset so he decides to live everybody's lives for them, but it fails when he pretends to be Mrs Puff but is cheered up when he makes himself his own driver's license. He names his boat "Boaty", but Spongebob's fake Patrick "tells" him not to trust Boaty. For the last few days Spongebob is scared of boats. When he sees one in theaters one day he runs away. The Bikini Bottomites return and Spongebob asks where they were. Mr. Krabs explains that they were on a holiday called "National No Spongebob Day" (which, in reality lasted for more than a day). When Patrick comes out with a T-shirt with Spongebob crossed off, Spongebob is depressed. Mr Krabs tells Spongebob that the holiday was inspired by Spongebob, and Spongebob cheers up. Everybody gets on the bus ready to go to "No Patrick Day." Spongebob shoves Patrick when he tries to get on. They leave Patrick behind, and Patrick, like SpongeBob, is now the one person left in Bikini Bottom. [edit] The Splinter / Slide Whistle Stooges
The Splinter SpongeBob tries to remove a splinter before Mr. Krabs learns about it and sends him home early. He summons the help of Patrick posing as a doctor (neither he nor SpongeBob went to med school), who tries different ways to get it off, but it only gets worse every time. Eventually Squidward tells Mr. Krabs about it and he gets it off his hand. Squidward learns that if he gets injured he can get paid for staying at home, and injures himself, only to find out his shift ended two minutes ago.
Slide Whistle Stooges SpongeBob and Patrick get new slide whistles and keep playing them, and SpongeBob and Patrick always annoy Squidward, and Squidward gets so annoyed by them, he then steals one from them to "see how they like it". So when Spongebob announces the he's a "great" slide whistler, he keeps playing it and they all play them and dance to them. But then Squidward starts to annoy the Bikini Bottomites by playing the slide whistle in annoying ways. As Squidward is running away from the Bikini Bottomites, he falls down a mountain and gets the slide whistle stuck in his throat. The doctor said that if Squidward hadn't had the slide whistle in his throat, they never would have found him.
[edit] A Life in a Day / Sun Bleached
A Life in a Day Daredevil Larry the Lobster inspires Patrick to live dangerously, but SpongeBob wants to play safe though Patrick brings him along with his dangerous stunts until he gets in serious trouble, but after SpongeBob gets the time of his life and Patrick learns his lesson from it, SpongeBob does a dangerous stunt that will land him in Ripper's Reef, an island filled with sharp reefs, and Larry tries to stop them from hurting themselves. The title is a parody of The Beatles' "A Day in the Life," the second parody of The Beatles during season 6, the first being "Krabby Road."
Sun Bleached SpongeBob and Patrick try to get tanned to get into Craig Mammalton's beach party, but things go wrong when SpongeBob's skin gets "sun bleached" (thanks to Patrick forgetting to watch over him). Eventually it is figured out that his tan is considered the best of them all. Soon, everyone wants to be "sun bleached" by gathering under some ultra-powerful tanning lights. But this causes them to seemingly be reduced to ash. SpongeBob then asks Patrick, "Do you think too much sun is bad?", to which Patrick replies "Whatever, I just go with the flow". [edit] Giant Squidward / No Nose Knows
Giant Squidward SpongeBob and Patrick spray Squidward with a strange chemical, marketed as a plant fertilizer, that turns him into a giant. After some trouble with the citizens of the town, Squidward leaves. SpongeBob and Patrick feel sorry for him, so they construct a giant clarinet for him. Squidward enjoys the sounds that it makes- however, Squidward reverts to normal size, making him unable to play his giant clarinet.
No Nose Knows Desiring a nose, Patrick goes through plastic surgery to get one. Though initially enjoying it, he becomes obsessed with eliminating vulgar odors after discovering them. His fanatical efforts lead to him meddling in his friends' lives; he blows up a hunk of Squidward's smelly imported cheese with a rocket launcher, plugs up SpongeBob's pores with corks, drives the customers of the Krusty Krab out with scented candles, and finally draws the line when he sprays Sandy with a can of deodorant and tells her to take a bath, calling her a fleabag in the process. The four blame Patrick's new nose for all of this trouble, so they compose a massive ball of garbage that deforms Patrick's nose and causes it to rot off, much to Patrick's dismay and sadness. SpongeBob quickly becomes depressed for punishing his friend for wanting to be like them, but Squidward unsurprisingly couldn't care less. It is then revealed that Patrick once again underwent plastic surgery, this time to get big human ears.
[edit] The Patty Caper / Plankton's Regular
The Patty Caper After receiving a shipment of the Krabby Patty's secret ingredient, SpongeBob discovers a hole in the briefcase and it is missing. SpongeBob and Patrick search Bikini Bottom in an attempt to find it, but all of their suspects turn out to be innocent, even Plankton. When they inform Mr. Krabs, he immediately accuses SpongeBob, makes up an outlandish story, and declares that he will call the cops (who are already there and heard everything). However, in the process, he accidentally reveals that he himself had stolen the ingredient to avoid paying for it, and attempted to frame SpongeBob as a cover-up. The judge sentences Mr. Krabs to serve the "ultimate" punishment: he has to give out free Krabby Patties all day long the next day. The end scene shows SpongeBob giving out the patties, and a screaming Mr. Krabs is strapped to a chair and forced to watch by the police, much to their amusement.
Plankton's Regular Plankton is shocked to find that he has a customer who goes to the Chum Bucket everyday to eat and seems to like the food. To add to that, he won't eat a single thing from the Krusty Krab. SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs try numerous ways to get him away from the Chum Bucket, even making their own chum, but all fail. In a role reversal, Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob attempt to steal Plankton's recipe for his chum, but are caught. In the end, the customer returns and reveals that Karen had paid him to eat at the Chum Bucket to stop Plankton from constantly complaining, and that he actually hated the food (and had even been hospitalized twice because of his consumption of the chum). At that moment, he collapses and is taken away on a stretcher to get his stomach pumped a third time, and Plankton bursts into tears at his failure, much to Mr. Krabs's amusement.
[edit] Boating Buddies / The Krabby Kronicle
Boating Buddies While trying to get away from SpongeBob, Squidward accidentally hits a stop sign and gets sent to boating school, which SpongeBob (of course) is a student at.
The Krabby Kronicle When Krabs discovers that the newspaper business is profitable (after seeing that the newspaper he sponsors is losing to another newspaper), he makes a tabloid. He orders SpongeBob to find stories, and then make them "more interesting"; he must write stories that contain defaming lies about others. These stories soon lead to disaster for many people (e.g the Chum Bucket is shut down by a health inspector because SpongeBob made up a story that said Plankton's chum was made from people, and Larry the Lobster is forbidden to ever go to the local gym again as SpongeBob made up a story that said Larry was beaten up by someone nowhere near as tough as him). When SpongeBob can no longer write these defaming lies, he decides to reveal Mr. Krabs' schemes, which angers the citizens and they take their money back. At the end of the episode, Patrick walks in wearing a tuxedo and carrying a pole with a wedding dress on it. SpongeBob earlier took a picture of Patrick staring at the pole, then made it into an article. When he showed it to Mr. Krabs, Mr. Krabs changed it to say that Patrick married the pole, so Patrick must have thought that this was true.
[edit] The Slumber Party / Grooming Gary
The Slumber Party Pearl throws a slumber party at her house, but when Mr. Krabs' meddling in her preparations get out of control for her, she promptly kicks him out. Mr. Krabs goes to SpongeBob's house and becomes convinced that Pearl and friends will damage his property. SpongeBob attempts to get into the party (on Mr. Krab's orders) by being cool, but gets locked up in Mr. Krabs' root beer cellar, and winds up turning the party into a disaster not only ruining Krabs's place but also scaring Pearl's friends. As a payback, Pearl forces her dad to throw her a beach party at his own expense.
Grooming Gary SpongeBob enters Gary in a pet show, but when he sees the other pets well-groomed, he decides to gives Gary a makeover. But Gary isn't happy about being made into a pretty show pet, and neither are the other pets when they start a pet riot.
[edit] SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big OneMain article: SpongeBob vs. The Big One
SpongeBob and his friends are suddenly swept away out of Bikini Bottom after a big wave hits. Now to get back home, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward must ride a special, gigantic wave. Notes: This episode was released on DVD before it aired on TV. [edit] Porous Pockets / Choir Boys
Porous Pockets When SpongeBob suddenly becomes the richest citizen of Bikini Bottom (thanks to a pearl he found saving a clam), he finds himself surrounded by lots of new "friends" who are more than happy to "help" him spend his money. As SpongeBob spends more time with his new "pals", he spends less time with his best buddy Patrick and jeopardizes their friendship. Patrick warns SpongeBob that throwing his money to all of his so-called "friends" will make him bankrupt. He learns his lesson the hard way when all of his money is gone. He finally realizes that Patrick was his only true friend, but is shocked when Patrick finds a new "volleyball" - which is actually a very large diamond.
Choir Boys Squidward is taking a shower and singing "Figaro". He then gets dressed and reveals to the audience that he wants to become the lead singer in the Bikini Bottom's Men's Choir, thinking his singing is better. He goes outside to discover SpongeBob lying on the ground. SpongeBob is upset because Patrick is gone at a family reunion. Spongebob asks Squidward if he can come with him to choir practice, but Squidward says no. SpongeBob even tries singing, but Squidward ignores him. At choir practice, they declare that SpongeBob sings better than Squidward. SpongeBob agrees to the job they offer him, but only if they find a spot for Squidward. They agree, but the job Squidward gets is - much to his annoyance - turning the pages for Spongebob at the concert.
[edit] Krusty Krushers / The Card
Krusty Krushers At a wrestling match, Mr. Krabs says "GIMMME GIMMME GIMMME" whenever he hears about money. He realizes that if somebody defeats the undefeated champions they would win $1,000,000. Mr Krabs hires Patrick and Spongebob to wrestle so he can get the $1,000,000. However Patrick and Spongebob are losing when they have fun instead of wrestling. However the undefeated champions are defeated by Patrick's "iron butt". Mr. Krabs thought Patrick and Spongebob lost, but then he hears that Spongebob and Patrick won the $1,000,000. However the next choice is to go to wrestle camp. Patrick and Spongebob choose wrestle camp and Mr. Krabs doesn't get the money much to his dismay.
The Card The new Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy trading cards are on sale, and SpongeBob is determined to get the Super Special Rare Talking Card. He buys all but one of the packets in a local store but none of them contain it. He is stunned when Patrick immediately finds the card in the one remaining packet without even trying to look for it. SpongeBob will do anything for Patrick to get that card and treat it with respect, yet, to make matters worse, Patrick does not care about the card at all as he bends it by using it to lift up his rock, scratches it when using it to clean his barbecue grill and tears it when flipping burgers. Eventually, he makes it disintegrate by covering it with cheese and SpongeBob bursts into tears, but Patrick then reveals that all five cards in the packet he bought were the Rare Talking Card. Patrick gives SpongeBob all of the other four but then asks to borrow one of them to open up his rock again. [edit] Dear Vikings / Ditchin'
Dear Vikings There is a new Viking-themed promotion at the Krusty Krab, so SpongeBob is determined to find out everything there is to know about Vikings. Since there's no better way to find out about Vikings than to communicate with them directly, SpongeBob writes a letter to the Vikings, and is surprised when they visit the Krusty Krab to answer his questions in person. However, they vandalize the Krusty Krab, kidnap SpongeBob and Squidward, and take them to their ship to become crew members.
Ditchin'
[edit] Grandpappy the Pirate / Cephalopod Lodge
Grandpappy the Pirate Mr. Krabs’ grandfather, Redbeard, is coming to town! But instead of being excited, Mr. Krabs is nervous because his swarthy pirate granddad thinks that Mr. Krabs is a pirate like him. Will Mr. Krabs be able to fool his granddad into thinking that he, SpongeBob, and Squidward are pirates aboard a pirate ship, and not a fast-food crew at the Krusty Krab?
Cephalopod Lodge Spongebob and Patrick follow Squidward around one night after Spongebob and Mr. Krabs realize that Squidward seems happy once every month, so they follow and find out that he's part of a secret society called the Cephalopod Lodge, only to be kicked out when the other members (including the leader) realize that Spongebob and Patrick had been following him. SpongeBob and Patrick feel sorry for Squidward, so they attempt to convince the Cephalopod Lodge to give Squidward his membership back. But they fail to do so, so they form a club of their own that they try to get Squidward to join. Unsurprisingly, Squidward doesn't want to join their club, so SpongeBob and Patrick again try to make Squidward re-gain his Cephalopod Lodge membership. [edit] Squid's Visit / To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants
Squid's Visit Squidward refuses to come to Spongebob's house because his house is a dirty home, so he decides to make his house look like Squidward's so he feels comfortable, but it backfires when Squidward feels annoyed about Spongebob mimicking his style and the fact that his house burned down because he left his food in the oven too long. Squidward sleeps in SpongeBob's redesigned house, while SpongeBob sleeps in the ruins of Squidward's own.
To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants Main article: To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants SpongeBob turns Bikini Bottom upside down in search of a new pair of pants. [edit] Shuffleboarding / Professor Squidward
Shuffleboarding Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy are booked to attend a shuffleboarding tournament, but they can’t go because they’re laid up in the hospital, so SpongeBob and Patrick offer to dress up as the superhero duo and attend in their place. But instead of just simply attending the shuffleboarding tournament, SpongeBob and Patrick decide that while they are dressed up as Mermaidman and Barnacleboy, they might as well act like they are the heroes, and send almost everyone in Bikini Bottom to the local jail, mostly for ridiculous reasons. They end up overfilling the jail and it bursts. The recently released prisoners think that the disguised Spongebob and Patrick were the real Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, and angrily chase them. Spongebob and Patrick get rid of their disguises before the angry mob notices, thus leaving the real Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy with a lot of trouble on their hands...
Professor Squidward When Squidward is mistaken for his much more famous rival, Squilliam Fancyson, he is invited to teach a class at the most prestigious music school in Bikini Bottom. Squidward is happy to pretend to be Squilliam if it means he can teach a class of adoring fans – until SpongeBob and Patrick show up and nearly blow his cover. He ends up being arrested for pretending to be Squilliam. Note: In this episode it is revealed that Squidward's middle name starts with a 'Q'. [edit] Pet or Pests / Komputer Overload
Pet or Pests SpongeBob gets a stray worm which gives birth to many small worms, but Gary scares the mother of the worms away. Now SpongeBob must find new homes for the baby worms.
Komputer Overload Plankton tries to replace Karen with some new computer inventions. [edit] Gullible Pants / Overbooked
Gullible Pants SpongeBob is determined to do a great job when he is left in charge of the Krusty Krab for about 15 minutes while Mr. Krabs gets a pedicure for his chipped fingernail, so he follows Squidward's so-called advice about the Krusty Krab (He really wants a nap on the job, though).
Overbooked SpongeBob’s got a full day, and he’s determined to do everything he’s scheduled to do: help fix Mr. Krabs’ telescope, go to Patrick’s birthday party, and help with Sandy’s presentation of her latest invention. Too bad everything’s scheduled for the exact same time! So, SpongeBob tries to take turns going through each of the events, and gets very mixed up. In the end, Mr. Krabs, Sandy and Patrick all understand the situation and Sandy reveals that her invention was in fact a cloning machine, and duplicates SpongeBob twice. She then says that he now can be in three places at once, but SpongeBob falls asleep before he hears this. [edit] No Hat for Pat / Toy Store of Doom
No Hat for Pat* Patrick is unhappy because he knows when either Spongebob or Squidward have their Krusty Krab Hats on, then that means that they're going to work, so Patrick gets a job at the Krusty Krab and also get a hat. When he finally receives a hat, he repeatedly falls down (at which according to him, he gets nervous sometimes), which seem to attract more tourists for Mr. Krabs, so he gives Patrick the job of providing entertainment for the day, resulting in Patrick repeatedly getting both injured and publicly humiliated. Later when Patrick is supposed to fall into a bucket of spikey balls (while he's up on a diving board), he gives Squidward his hat so it doesn't get ripped up, but now he can't fall, after they both fall down (Squidward falls over Patrick, Patrick falls after he put on his hat again), but don't get seriously injured. Spongebob then realizes that it's been the hat that's been weighing him down, not nervousness. Despite Mr. Krabs explicitly stating that there are no refunds, the customers, enraged that no one got maimed, forcibly take their money back from Mr. Krabs, as well as stealing the clothes off his back. Mr. Krabs blames Patrick for ruining his business and fires him, vowing that Patrick will never work for him again. However, SpongeBob allows Patrick to wear his hat any time Patrick wants. The episode ends with Patrick repeatedly falling over again.
Toy Store of Doom SpongeBob and Patrick hide so they can stay in a toy store after it closes. However, they start seeing things and try to protect themselves from the "army" of toys.
