^[1]Hong Lim Park, being the first public garden created by the Hokkien businessman and philanthrophist, Cheng Hong Lim in 1885, is 0.94 hectare.

The park was the venue for many election rallies and political speeches during the 1950s and 1960s. It was selected by the Government as the venue for the existing Speakers' Corner in September 2000. The Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Community Centre and the Kreta Ayer Neighbourhood Police Post lie adjacent to the park.
