"Homer vs. Dignity" is the fifth episode of the twelfth season of The Simpsons. It aired on November 26, 2000. [edit] PlotThe family take Bart to dinner at the Singing Sirloin restaurant (as seen in "Life on the Fast Lane") for getting his first "A" in an astronomy quiz. When asked how he achieved this rarity, Bart explains he stayed behind at school to try and force a hamster and a lizard to mate but was forced to study to get his mind off seeing Mrs Krabappel and Principal Skinner making out in the classroom. After eating, Homer attempts to pay but his credit card is rejected and the family is forced to run away without paying. Homer and Marge realise that the family is in financial trouble so Marge suggests that Homer ask his boss, Mr Burns, for a raise. Mr Smithers, Burns' assistant, takes a week off work to perform in Malibu Stacy: The Musical in New Mexico so during the week Burns attempts to perform all of Smithers' tasks himself. After Homer shows Burns how to get food at the Cafeteria, he asks Burns for a raise. Burns says he will give Homer a raise if he becomes his "Executive Assistant in Charge of Recreation", which is, in Burns' words, his "prank monkey". Burns pays Homer cash every time Homer entertains Burns by performing embarrassing or cruel tasks, such as throwing pudding at his co-worker and friend, Lenny, eating a rare Spider-Man comic in front of Comic Book Guy and pretending to be a baby in a public toilet. The next day, an "anonymous donor" donates a female Giant Panda named Sim-Sim to Springfield Zoo; however, Sim-Sim is secretly Homer dressed in a panda suit. The zoo's male panda becomes romantically interested with Sim-Sim and drags "her" off to his cave. Lisa discovers that Homer is Sim-Sim and he has been performing pranks for Burns and she tells him to quit, as his dignity is more important than money. When Burns comes to give Homer his payment, Homer quits and spends all the money he received being the "prank monkey" on toys for needy children, which he distributes dressed as Santa Claus in the Thanksgiving Day Parade. During the parade, Burns shows up to tell Homer that he can earn $1 000 000 if he pulls another prank. Santa is then seen throwing fish guts into the crowd; however, the evil Santa is actually Burns. Homer thanks Lisa for teaching him that dignity and kindness is more important then making money. Meanwhile, Burns continues to throw fish guts into the crowd while shouting "Merry Fishmas!"
