[edit] About Himesh Himesh Reshammiya (Gujarati) was born on 23th July 1973 and is the son of Veteran Gujarati music director Vipin Reshammiya. At the age of 16 he produced television serials for Zee TV which included serials such as Andaz & Amar Prem. His first big break came from Salman Khan (who had just made it big with the hit movie Maine Pyar Kiya.). Himeshji started his career as a music director from Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998 and as a singer from Aashiq Banaya Aapne and gave many hits. Himeshji also became first singer and composer to perform in Webley & Heinekens music hall. Himeshji also became actor and currently he is singing, composing and acting in many movies. [edit] Television Himesh Reshammiya was actively involved in mentoring and judging the popular singing competition on Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge. His group was called "Rock" gharana. His slogan for this show was "Jai Mata Di Let's Rock." Himeshji was the winning mentor of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, the winner being Aneek Dhar from Kolkata. Himeshji also excelled in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009, as Vaishali Made, a female contestant from his "Rock" gharana, won the competition. Himeshji has produced many serials. Among these are "Amar Prem" and "Andaaz" on ZeeTV. The title song of both the serials was composed by Himesh. [edit] Criticism and controversies In his debut film as an actor, Aap Kaa Surroor - The Real Luv Story, Himesh Reshammiya added a song Tanhaiyaan from Boney Kapoor's proposed film Milenge Milenge.[3] Initially, Himesh Reshammiya had composed the song for Kapoor's film but later decided to use it for his own movie. Tips, which held the audio rights of Milenge Milenge, accused Reshammiya of copyright violation, as audio rights for Aap Kaa Surroor - The Real Luv Story were acquired by T-Series.[4] However, Himesh Reshammiya defended himself saying that he had made Kapoor listen to the song, but it wasn't included in Milenge Milenge. He also claimed to have tried to get in touch with Kapoor for seven months, and since there was no progress on the film, he decided to use the song for his own movie.[5] In June 2007, they reconciled their differences after Himesh Reshammiya apologized.[6] [edit] Awards & nominations Himesh Reshammiya won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award for "Aashiq Banaya Aapne". This was his first and most successful song sung by him in the year 2005. He also received several nominations for his music direction.
