Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) is a public two-year college located in Dearborn, Michigan. The school, established in 1938,^[1] is accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Michigan Commission on College Accreditation.

HFCC offers Associate Degrees and certificate programs in a wide variety of liberal arts, science, fine arts, culinary arts and health science disciplines. The college also has a Center for Lifelong Learning which offers non-credit courses for personal enrichment or professional development. Other offerings include an Honors Program, a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the radio station WHFR 89.3 FM. It also holds discipline-specific accreditations for its many health science programs.

[edit] Transferring/graduating

HFCC guarantees that credits earned at their institution will be fully accepted in transfer to four-year colleges. The college also guarantees to refund all tuition increases to any student who graduates within four years of starting a program.^[6]

Henry Ford has several intercollegiate sports teams, including men's baseball, basketball and golf and women's basketball, softball and volleyball. The school also has a selection of seventeen intramural teams.^[4]^[5]

As a public institution, the school gets support from several sources: state appropriations, student tuition and fees, local Dearborn School District property taxes, auxiliary activities, and both state and local grants.^[1]

In Fall 2007 academic year, Henry Ford enrolled more than 14,000 students^[2] and had 741 employees, 175 of which being full time.^[1]

[edit] Shooting

On April 10, 2009, Anthony Powell entered the campus fine arts building where he shot and killed Asia McGowan. After killing McGowan, Powell took his own life in the same building. At the time of the incident both Powell and McGowan were enrolled as students at Henry Ford Community College.^[7]
