- Hell's Gate - a region (around 40°15′08″N 58°26′23″E / 40.252333°N 58.439750°E / 40.252333; 58.439750) in Turkmanistan, also known as the "Door to Hell", where a large cavern was excavated and found to have gas. In an attempt to remove noxious fumes, a flame was lit. The cavern has been burning for 35 years without any cessation.[5]
