Hechingen is a town in the central Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was the capital of the district of Hechingen and is is located under the hill and castle Burg Hohenzollern, aprox 60 kilometers south from Stuttgart.
[edit] HistoryHechingen was the ancestral home of the House of Hohenzollern and the seat of Hohenzollern-Hechingen, a Swabian county (and later principality) of the House of Hohenzollern. The town was retained by the Swabian or junior line of the Hohenzollern dynasty until it was ceded to the senior, Prussian, line in 1850. Hechingen was subsequently administered within the Prussian Province of Hohenzollern. It became part of Württemberg-Hohenzollern after World War II and Baden-Württemberg in 1952. Hechingen has completely restored its lovely nineteenth century synagogue.[1] [edit] EconomyHechingen is a important economical center for the region since over 100 years. Important enterprises, which have their seat in Hechingen are GAMBRO, ELCO, the Hohenzollerische Landesbahn, Sternenbäck and the enterprises developing after the JOSTRA Group grounded.
