Hecate in 2006.
Background information
Birth name Rachael Kozak
Genres Breakcore
Darkcore
Labels Zhark International

Hecate is the performing name of American/Austrian breakcore producer Rachael Kozak, currently living in Basel, Switzerland. She takes her name from the Greek goddess of sorcery Hecate. She has also worked with prolific electronic artist Venetian Snares, creating the controversial album Nymphomatriarch made entirely out of recordings of herself and Venetian Snares having sex on their two-week tour in 2003. She uses sex as a major topic in her music, as shown in "Hecate Jacks Off The Jackal" and "The Magick Of Female Ejaculation". She also deals heavily with death and the occult.[1] In the middle part of the decade, she has become increasingly involved in the extreme metal scene, particularly industrial black metal.[2] She eventually formed Treachery, a black metal group.[2]

Rachael Kozak is also involved with video production, graphic arts and writing.

With over 30 records released, she is the most prolific female producer in hard electronic music. She also runs her own record label, Zhark International.
