Headlands and bays are two related features of the coastal environment. headlands are made of hardrock found at coast and where there is a headland there is a bay, bay's are made of soft rock which makes it easy to eriod but headlands take over one million years so you will not be able to see when it when it is happening but we know the stages for what happens which is *cracks apper in cliff *the cracks will break away which will make a cave *then and arch *the top part of the arch will eriod away from gravity humans plants ect.... *a stack wich will also eriod away by wave cut noch * a stomp wich eriod away * the last one is a wave cut platform. [edit] Beach stabilityBeaches are dynamic geologic features that can fluctuate between advancement and retreat of sediment. The natural agents of fluctuation include waves, tides, currents, and winds. Man-made elements such as the interruption of sediment supply, such as a dam, and withdrawal of fluid can also affect beach stabilization.[1] A headland bay beach can be classified as being in three different states of sedimentation. Static equilibrium refers to a beach that is stable and does not experience littoral drift or sediment deposition or erosion.[2] Waves generally diffract around the headland(s) and near the beach when the beach is in a state of static equilibrium. Dynamic equilibrium occurs when the beach sediments are deposited and eroded at approximately equal rates.[2] Beaches that have dynamic equilibrium are usually near a river that supplies sediment and would otherwise erode away without the river supply. Unstable beaches are usually off the ocean have have little land extending into it. the rest has been done by shanice dyte. beach's are one way of showing constructive waves. depending [edit] Notes
